Pronounced mow-luh-vee. We thought you might be wondering how to pronounce it and how we got the name. So let's get into it. :)
Molave trees are endemic to the Philippines and "are intolerant to shade and a light-loving species with a spreading crown." How great is that? We felt that described us perfectly:
- intolerant to shade (no time for shade)
- light-loving (when in darkness, be the light)
- spreading crown (because we are kings and queens)
No, we didn't make that up! Those are really characteristics of Molave trees. I (Arnelle) am Filipino and was born in the Philippines, and Emil now loves the Philippines after our numerous visits, so we thought it fitting to find a name that represents something from the Philippines. So that's how our search began, and when we found Molave trees, it sealed the deal.
